The Everglades Hotel is situated at the foot of the Inhlosane Mountain, deep in the southern foothills of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The Inhlosane offers an invigorating hike, and excellent bird-watching opportunities, culminating at 'the Cascades' water fall.

Situated on the Midlands Meander, there are numerous art and craft places of interest to visit, ranging from lavender farms, wrought iron works, to thirst quenching breweries. Children are catered for too: animal farms, candle dipping and delicious home made ice cream, so your days in our beautiful valley will be memorable.

Then back to Everglades for a hearty lunch or dinner. Our diningroom boasts an atmosphere to be found nowhere else! Meals are either served plated or when there are large numbers a delicious buffet.

Accommodation

The Everglades Hotel offers a wide variety of accommodation, ranging from Standard Rooms and family suites to Superior Rooms overlooking the golf course and finally our plush  new Executive Rooms.

All accommodation is en-suite, some rooms have baths and others showers, however a large proportion have baths & showers. Other facilities are  TV, telephone, radio/alarm, heater and tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and our executive rooms have DSTV. Our interleading family rooms are able to accommodate up to 6 guests, in either twin or double beds.

Midlands Meander

The gentle rolling countryside of the KZN Midlands just north of Pietermaritzburg (uMgungundlovu District) is home to South Africas premier country route. The Midlands Meander provides a different perspective for the visitor to the “Zulu Kingdom” with a diverse range of experiences from luxurious pampering to antique collecting to milking cows!

During the 1970s a group of crafters already living in this beautiful area came up with the idea of forming a collective to encourage visitors to their studios and hopefully, shop. It was the simple, authentic lifestyle of handmade, home-homegrown and lovingly created that they sought to achieve. This seamed the ideal way to maintain that. This lifestyle and these values still echo in the hills today.

Each year, more creative souls are drawn by the gentler pace, bringing fresh ideas and new energy. There is always something new to explore among the comfort of old favourites. Midlands Meander Butterfly

The familiar symbol of the Midlands Meander is the Karkloof Butterfly(Orachrysops ariande), which inhabits only three locations in the KZN Midlands. Breeding in steep grassland gullies, this butterfly has a unique relationship with the sugar ant(Componotus natalesis), which carries the newly-hatched caterpillars from the host plant (indigofera woodii) to their food source. The butterfly is so rare that a sighting is unlikely, and the Midlands Meander funds a research project aimed at ensuring it’s survival. Collection tins bearing the slogan `Common Cents Can Make a Difference` are located at all Midlands Meander outlets.

Weddings

Situated in the beautiful Midlands countryside, Everglades Hotel is the idyllic venue for you special day. Our team of experts are on handle to guide you through the planning of your wedding day.

Just 40 minutes from Pietermaritzburg and 11/2hrs from Durban make our venue easily accessible.

Your ceremony can be performed in Inhlosane 2 (Can seat 50 guests)  or Inhlosane 4 (can seat 120) guests depending on the size of  your wedding and the gardens are available for pre-drinks and photographs in our beautiful gardens.

Your guests can then move to The Reedbok Boma for your reception, which can seat up to 120 guests including the dance floor.

We suggest between 8  and 10 people per table.

We do not charge for the Ceremonial Venue, however all decorations are for your own account.

Please note that a non refundable deposit of  R5000.00 is required to secure you booking.

A complimentary bedroom awaits you on your wedding night which includes a bottle of Champagne  and a full traditional breakfast the following morning.

The Hotel offers four  superior conferencing venues, catering for either large seminars, or smaller, more personal, management-type meetings. The Everglades can accomodate up to 110 delegates in 52 rooms, ranging from Standard to Superior and finally our plush new Executive Rooms.

Delegates, removed from their workplace to the tranquil surroundings of the Everglades, are empowered towards relaxation and stress-free productivity.

All rooms are in a scenic garden setting, with views of the surrounding countryside. Amenities include en-suite bathroom,  local TV, heater, radio/alarm, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities. Several Superior and all Executive Rooms have underfloor heating.
